2011 CUCAS University Scholarship

 
According to the educational exchange agreements and understandings reached by CUCAS and the corresponding governments, organizations, and universities, the CUCAS University Scholarship is a program run by CUCAS which aims to help Chinese universities to recruit excellent international students. This scholarship will be awarded to foreign students studying or conducting research at designated universities.

1. Who can apply for this scholarship?

  • Scholarship applicants must have been enrolled in 2011 fall intake programs at the designated universities of "CUCAS University Scholarship".
  • Applicants must observe Chinese laws and regulations.
  • Applicants must be friendly to Chinese people and respect the Chinese multiplicity of cultures and customs.
  • Applicants must be non-Chinese nationals in good health.
  • Education background and age limit:
  • Applicants for undergraduate programs must have a senior high school diploma with good academic performance and be under the age of 25.
  • Applicants for master's degree programs must have a bachelor's degree and be under the age of 35.
  • Applicants for doctoral degree programs must have a master's degree and be under the age of 40.
  • Applicants for Chinese training programs must have a senior high school diploma and be under the age of 35. Chinese language is the only subject available.
  • Applicants for general scholar programs must have completed at least two years of undergraduate study and be under the age of 45. All subjects besides Chinese language are available.
  • Applicants for senior scholar programs must have a master's degree or above, or hold academic titles of associate professor or above, and be under the age of 50.

2. Scholarship Values

Max. Amount per person: 1,000 US dollars
No. of Scholarships: 36

The CUCAS University Scholarship is awarded to cover or subsidize the cost of tuition. The scholarship money will therefore be paid directly to the university the student is attending. If the tuition fee is less than US$1000, the exact amount of scholarship money awarded will be equal to the tuition fee, thereby covering the full cost of tuition for scholarship winners. If the tuition fee is more than US$1000, the winner will have their tuition fee subsidized by US$1000; the remainder of the tuition fee must be paid by the student.

3. When to apply?

Application time: November 1st, 2010 – June 20th, 2011
Announcement of the evaluation results: June 31th, 2011

4. How to apply?

Applicants for the CUCAS University Scholarship must first be accepted by one of our designated universities. Those who haven’t met this prerequisite can browse the list of Designated Universities to apply for a school and fill out the online application form.

Once you are admitted by the university and receive an admission letter, you can apply for the scholarship by submitting the online scholarship application form and supporting documents either to CUCAS or to the university.

The detailed online scholarship application procedures are laid out in the right-hand column for your reference.

5. Application Documents

The following application documents should be sent to the university or CUCAS:
  • CUCAS Scholarship Application Form (Fill out the form online).
  • Letter of acceptance or CUCAS application ID.
  • Notarized certificate/diploma of highest education. Non English or Chinese language documentation requires a certified English or Chinese language translation.
  • Notarized academic transcript of highest education. Non English or Chinese language documentation requires a certified English or Chinese language translation.
  • Study plan or research proposal, written in Chinese or English.
  • Letters of recommendation from two professor or assistant professors, written in Chinese or English.
  • A copy of Physical Examination Record for foreigners
  • A notarization of guarantor for applicants under 18 years old.

6. Terms and Conditions

  • Scholarship applications cannot be duplicated.
  • Applicants for the CUCAS University Scholarship cannot apply for any other scholarships.
  • Scholarship applicants who have received other scholarships cannot apply for the CUCAS University Scholarship.
  • CUCAS University Scholarship recipients will have their scholarship automatically cancelled if they receive any other scholarships.
  • CUCAS reserves the final right of interpretation of these detailed implementation regulations.

7. Notes

The scholarship is awarded as a one-off payment in RMB (based on that day’s exchange rate) and given directly to the university the winner attends as part or all of the tuition fee.
